Salamanca Place is the heart of Hobart and is a fantastic spot for food, culture and history. Cafes, bars, boutiques and theatres line the cobblestone streets of Sullivan’s Cove on the city’s waterfront.

Once the commercial hub of Hobart, the historic buildings of Salamanca Place are now one of the most popular places to visit in the city.

I always make Salamanca my first coffee stop when I get to Hobart. I sit quietly and breathe in the air and atmosphere that is distinctively Hobart. Aahhh!

While it’s only been open for ten years, the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is already one of Hobart’s most popular attractions. The museum showcases a private collection of modern art and antiquities and is considered an International Standard Museum

At every turn there is something amazing to take in. Whether you arrive by ferry or drive yourself to Barriedale every aspect of the customer experience has been considered. Remember to  book your MONA tickets on line ( the website is really easy to use)

One of the most unique things about this museum is that most of it, but not all, is underground. As the name of the museum suggests, the works of art range from old Egyptian sarcophaguses to a modern machine that turns food into goo, so you can expect a lot of variety! I would love to show you all my photos and retell my favourite bits, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise. Keep an eye out for…………
